UTC x Packolab: When Distance, Craft, and Community Come Together

UTC x Packolab: When Distance, Craft, and Community Come Together

Some collaborations begin with mood boards and timelines.

Others begin with conversations—late-night calls, shared sketches on screens, and a mutual respect for the work, even when circumstances aren’t easy.

The UTC x Packolab Limited Edition Collection belongs firmly to the latter.

From Kyiv to the Local Carry Community

This collaboration brought together Urban Traveller & Co., led by Hans Fernandez, and Packolab, founded by Borys in Kyiv, Ukraine—two teams separated by geography, time zones, and very different daily realities, but united by a shared belief in purposeful design and honest craftsmanship.

Built Through Conversations, Not Just Concepts

From the earliest stages, the development of the UTC x Packolab collection was deeply collaborative. Hans and Borys worked closely through video calls—reviewing silhouettes, discussing materials, and refining details piece by piece. These weren’t quick check-ins, but thoughtful exchanges where both sides brought their expertise to the table.

For UTC, it was about understanding how Packolab designs for movement, durability, and real-world use. For Packolab, it was about learning how the local carry community moves through cities, travels, and integrates bags into everyday life.

Despite the challenges of working across borders—and the very real disruptions caused by the ongoing war in Ukraine—the collaboration never felt distant. If anything, it felt more intentional.

A Rare Opportunity Made Possible

Packolab is known globally for its made-to-order approach and extremely limited releases. Most customers outside Ukraine are familiar with the process: waiting for drops, joining raffles, and hoping to be selected.

That’s why this collaboration feels especially meaningful.

Through UTC, the local community is given rare, direct access to Packolab craftsmanship—without raffles, without uncertainty. It’s an opportunity that doesn’t come often, and one that required trust, patience, and shared commitment from both teams to make possible.

The Moment It Became Real: UTX

All that quiet work behind the scenes came into full view during the UTX event, when the collaboration was finally revealed to the carry community.

The reaction was immediate.

Curiosity turned into excitement. Questions turned into long conversations. Attendees leaned in, examined materials, and talked about how these bags fit into their own daily routines. For many, it was the first time seeing a Packolab piece up close—let alone one created specifically for UTC.

For Hans and the UTC team, it was a reminder of why these collaborations matter. For Packolab, it was proof that their work resonates far beyond borders.

More Than a Bag

The UTC x Packolab Limited Edition Collection—featuring the City Carrier, Samurai Sling, and Samurai Slim—is the result of shared values rather than simple aesthetics. It’s about carrying thoughtfully, designing responsibly, and supporting the people behind the product.

Every piece tells a story of collaboration across distance, resilience in the face of uncertainty, and a community that values craft over hype.

And perhaps most importantly, it shows what’s possible when brands choose to work together—not just to release products, but to build meaningful connections.

As this collection makes its way into the hands of the local carry community, it carries with it more than gear. It carries conversations, trust, and a shared moment in time—one that UTC and Packolab are grateful to have created together.
